Multivitamin and mineral (MVM) supplements first became available in the early 1940s. Since then, many people in the United States have been taking them regularly.

When considering all the available dietary supplements on the market, MVMs constitute one-sixth of all purchases and 40% of all sales.

Approximately ten percent of people in the United States tend toward a vegetarian diet. The Vegetarian Times released a recent “Vegetarianism in America” study that indicated 7.3 million individuals in the United States were vegetarians.

The study also showed that around one million of these individuals were also vegan, which means that they don’t eat any animal products. In other words, in addition to not consuming beef, poultry, and fish, they don’t eat eggs, honey, or any other animal products.
