When you are getting older, it is important to do your best to maintain your mobility. As you age, you may experience aches and pains due to bad posture or lack of exercise. Getting up and walking around is incredibly important, especially for seniors. In this video, we will look at some different at-home exercises seniors can do to improve balance and prevent falls and injuries.
These methods are often used for seniors who are attending physical therapy, but anyone who is growing older is benefitted by practicing them. Balance is something that you need to practice in order to master, especially in older folks.
For these senior exercises, be sure to have something to hold onto on either side of your body to prevent slipping. For one exercise, you can do single leg lifts. Lift one at a time up in the air, while balancing on the other. Don’t hold it for longer than a second, just like walking. Next, practice kicking our leg out to the side, with one hand on your counter to keep you steady. This helps to work your hips as well as your leg muscles.
